Guardian App
My personal project inspired from my time as a student at UC Santa Barbara
Back when I was a student at UC Santa Barbara, getting around our community that spanned one square mile was mainly by foot or bike. During the day this is almost never an issue, but once it gets dark, the area can become dangerous for students. Unfortunately, hearing cases of assault and violence is not uncommon, and those who are venturing out at night are at a risk, leaving students feeling vulnerable at a place that should be home.
I wanted to think of a way to make students feel safer while having quick access to help if needed. I came up with Guardian: an app idea that provides you with a sense of security by checking up on you. If there is no response, emergency contacts are alerted and notified of your location. Users will also have quick access to call 911 which will prompt an automatic recording session.
Add emergency contacts to keep your loved ones up to date with where you are.
Before you go somewhere, set when you want Guardian to check up on you. If you don’t respond, Guardian will alert your emergency contacts and call police
Wherever you’re going, you’ll have quick access to call 911.
This isn’t limited to just college students who want to get around safely. Whether you’re going on a hike alone or meeting up with an online buyer or seller such as responding to a Craigslist ad, safety is always the main priority and concern. Guardian will ensure that.
