TLDR; Marqeta's complicated platform and APIs were hard for some customers to understand. The design team created clickable prototypes to show what their solutions can do, leading to a signed partnership with WorkWhile.
Overview
Marqeta is “headless” - meaning there is no consumer-facing UI that can simply show what the company offers. The sales and business development teams currently present a walk-through of API docs.
This makes it hard to bring the product vision to life, show value of the tech stack, and help customer prospects envision their end users interaction with card experiences.
We called our demo app “Sproutify” and together with BD and marketing, defined target audiences, personas, and use cases to craft a narrative for the prototypes.
The Impact
The clickable prototypes empowered the sales and marketing teams to present the end user experience of what is possible using Marqeta’s platform. This brought the conversations from the abstract to something tangible and actionable that let customers experience what their own users could.
The prototypes were used for a presentation with WorkWhile which resulted in a signed partnership! Below are some of the core flows of the prototype that I owned and created.
